As part of the prestigious three-day International Young Diplomats School (IYDS), participants were received by His Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid, at the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad. This visit marked the official launch of the school’s 7th edition, an initiative organized by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS). The program is designed to bolster the public diplomacy outreach of foreign missions in Pakistan while providing mid-career professionals with direct, practical exposure to the global diplomatic landscape.

Diplomacy: More Than Just Buildings During the interactive session, Ambassador Abdelhamid delivered a resonant welcome speech, emphasizing that an embassy functions as a vital bridge between two nations, transcending its physical infrastructure. The Ambassador took the opportunity to invite the people of Pakistan to explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest museum dedicated to Egyptian civilization, located near the iconic Pyramids. Furthermore, Dr. Abdelhamid expressed his strong aspiration to launch direct flights between Pakistan and Egypt, highlighting this as a crucial step for boosting trade potential and strengthening people-to-people connections. Through sessions with career diplomats and UN representatives, IYDS continues to equip emerging leaders with the insights needed to navigate the complexities of modern diplomacy.
