China Inaugurates University of Emergency Management to Strengthen National Safety Systems

China officially launched the University of Emergency Management in Langfang, Hebei Province, on January 20, 2026. Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing highlighted that the institution is a pivotal policy decision aimed at modernizing the nation's emergency response framework and nurturing world-class talent. The university will focus on safety in production, natural disaster prevention, and high-efficiency rescue operations.

Zhang urged the university to strive for excellence as a high-quality, application-oriented research institution.
