The National Meteorological Center of China issued an orange alert for rainstorms on Monday, warning of heavy rainfall in vast areas across the country. This alert, which is the second-highest level in China's four-tier weather warning system, signals a serious threat of severe weather.

Alert Details and Rainfall Forecast
The alert is in effect from 2 p.m. on Monday to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and it covers numerous provinces and regions. The affected areas include Qinghai, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Henan, Shandong, Guangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau, Fujian, Yunnan, and Taiwan.
The meteorological center predicts that certain regions, particularly in Hebei, Guangxi, Guangdong, and the eastern coastal provinces, could experience exceptionally heavy rainfall, with precipitation reaching up to 350 millimeters per hour. Other areas might face short-term heavy downpours of up to 80 millimeters per hour, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Government Actions and Safety Precautions
In response to the alert, the National Meteorological Center has urged local governments to take necessary precautions and preparations. Officials are advised to inspect urban and agricultural drainage systems and to remain on high alert for potential mountain torrents, landslides, and debris flows that could be triggered by the intense rainfall.
China's four-tier weather warning system uses a color-coded scale: red for the most severe warnings, followed by orange, then yellow, and finally blue.
