In a historic achievement that highlights the booming trade between China and Europe, the China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd. announced on Sunday that the Erenhot Port, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has processed its 20,000th China-Europe freight train since operations began in 2013.

Accelerated Growth and Diversified Goods
Located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of northern China, the Erenhot Port has experienced exceptional growth in recent years. This growth is a direct result of China's sustained efforts to deepen its international economic and trade cooperation. The port's development is evident in several key areas:
Doubled Train Traffic: It took the port nearly a decade to reach the 10,000-train milestone in 2022. However, the subsequent 10,000 trains were handled in just over three years, indicating a remarkable acceleration in trade volume.
Evolving Cargo Profile: The nature of the goods transported has shifted significantly. Initially, cargo primarily consisted of raw materials such as metals and clothing. Now, the freight trains carry high value-added products, including new energy vehicles, electronics, and household appliances, reflecting a major evolution in Chinese exports.
A Pivotal Hub in the Global Network
Erenhot Port is a crucial and pivotal transit point for the "Middle Corridor" of China-Europe freight trains. The port currently serves 73 routes that connect over 60 Chinese cities across 24 provincial-level regions to more than 70 stations in over 10 European countries, including Germany and Poland. This extensive network solidifies the port's role as a vital artery for global trade.
