In a significant diplomatic escalation, China has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's accusation that it is helping to orchestrate a "political siege" against Israel. A Chinese embassy spokesperson in Israel dismissed the claims as "groundless" and "lacking political wisdom."

Earlier this week, Netanyahu told a large delegation of U.S. officials and later an Israeli channel, "i24," that a political siege was being imposed on Israel, led by Qatar and supported financially and in the media by other countries, including China.
The Chinese embassy in Israel expressed its shock at Netanyahu's statements. In an official statement, a spokesperson said the accusations "are completely groundless, are harmful to China-Israel relations, and China strongly opposes them."
The statement added that the accusation of China using social media platforms to attack Israel is "treating the symptoms instead of the real problem." The spokesperson pointed out that "a large part of the international community has called for a ceasefire in Gaza and is critical of Netanyahu's policies," implying that the criticism Israel faces is not limited to certain parties.
Concluding the statement, the Chinese spokesperson delivered a direct message to Israel, stating, "Israel doesn't need an endless war but diplomacy to achieve peace." He affirmed that solving the current crisis requires Israel to demonstrate "political wisdom and creative diplomacy, not just endless military operations and attacks."
