Beijing has urged the United States to refrain from using other countries as pretexts to pursue its own interests. This comes after President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. needs to control Greenland to prevent Russia or China from occupying it in the future. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized during a press conference on Monday that "the Arctic is an area that concerns the public interests of the entire international community."

The "Make a Deal" Push: Trump reiterated on Sunday his desire to acquire the Danish territory, telling reporters on Air Force One: "If we don’t take Greenland, Russia or China will... and I won’t let that happen." He urged the polar island to "make a deal" with him. Meanwhile, diplomatic sources indicate that Trump administration officials will meet with Danish counterparts this Wednesday.
European Reaction: In response to Trump's pressure, a group of European nations led by Britain and Germany have begun discussing plans to bolster their military presence in Greenland. Germany is expected to propose a joint NATO mission to protect the Arctic, aiming to demonstrate to Washington that Europe is serious about its own regional security.
