China's Gaming Market Hits Historic $50B Peak in 2025: Quality Shifts and Global Expansion

The 2025 China Gaming Industry Report highlights an unprecedented milestone, with domestic sales revenue reaching 350.79 billion yuan (approx. $49.8 billion), marking a 7.68% annual increase. Presented at the annual industry conference in Shanghai, the report revealed that the user base expanded to 683 million, while mobile games maintained their dominance, accounting for 73.29% of the market share.

Beyond borders, Chinese-developed games recorded a stellar performance, generating $20.46 billion in overseas revenue—surpassing the 100-billion-yuan threshold for the sixth consecutive year. Zhang Yijun, Senior Vice President of the CADPA, noted that 2025 signaled a strategic shift from quantitative expansion to high-quality innovation. While the US, Japan, and South Korea remain top markets, Chinese developers are aggressively penetrating emerging global markets.
