In a firm diplomatic stance, China has expressed deep concern over Israel's announced plan to seize parts of the Gaza Strip, asserting that any attempt to alter the geographic or demographic reality of Palestinian territories must be met with resolute rejection from the international community. This warning was delivered by China's envoy to the United Nations, Fu Cong, during an emergency meeting of the Security Council, placing the issue at the forefront of global diplomatic concerns.

China's Clear Position: A "Highly Serious Matter"
Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, described the Israeli Security Cabinet's approval of the seizure plan as a "highly serious matter." He urged Israel to "immediately cease this dangerous move," emphasizing that Gaza "belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inalienable part of their territory." He added that any action aimed at changing its demographic or geographic composition must be met with "the utmost rejection and resistance." This Chinese position reflects a clear rejection of any unilateral Israeli policies that could undermine the two-state solution.
Call for an Immediate Ceasefire and Two-State Solution
The Chinese envoy stressed that a military solution is not the way to end the conflict and called for an immediate ceasefire as "the only option to save lives and ensure the release of the detainees." He also urged influential countries to adopt a fair and responsible stance and to take concrete steps to promote de-escalation efforts.
Underscoring China's vision for peace in the region, Fu Cong affirmed that implementing the two-state solution is "the only path" to achieving peaceful coexistence. He called on the international community to intensify political efforts and confront any unilateral actions that undermine this solution, noting that China is ready to work with everyone to end the war in Gaza, alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe, and support a comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question.
Humanitarian Demands and Israel's Responsibility as an Occupying Power
Additionally, the Chinese envoy urged Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law as an "occupying power." He demanded the opening of all border crossings and the lifting of restrictions on aid access to ensure the widespread, rapid, and safe entry of humanitarian supplies. He called on Israel to support the UN's efforts in delivering this aid, emphasizing the necessity of meeting the basic needs of civilians in the Strip.
China's strong warning against Israel's plans to seize Gaza represents clear support for the Palestinian position and adds significant diplomatic weight to the international demand for intervention. Fu Cong noted that Israel's plan has drawn widespread condemnation from most Security Council members, highlighting a growing international consensus against any unilateral actions that could jeopardize the future of peace in the region.
