Chinese Communist Party Holds Symposium to Commemorate 110th Birth Anniversary of Hu Yaobang

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a symposium today (Thursday) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of Hu Yaobang, the Party's former prominent leader.

Xi Jinping's Message and Key Points

Chinese President, CPC General Secretary, and Central Military Commission Chairman Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the symposium, calling for emulation of Hu's noble conduct and prestigious character in pushing forward tangible progress in all endeavors.

• Adhering to Ideals: Xi recalled Hu's glorious life and exceptional contributions, praising his firm revolutionary will. He urged all Party members to emulate Hu by upholding their ideals and beliefs, remaining loyal to the Party, and seriously engaging in promoting Chinese modernization.

• Reform and Opening-up: Xi noted that Hu championed and promoted reform and opening-up and devoted immense energy to socialist modernization. Xi urged all Party members to comprehensively deepen reform and stimulate society's vitality.

• Serving the People: Xi called on Party members to emulate Hu's deep love for the Chinese people, stressing the need for concrete efforts to constantly enhance the public's sense of "gain, happiness, and security."

• Rectifying Party Conduct: Xi emphasized Hu's focus on rectifying Party conduct, urging all Party members, especially senior officials, to emulate him by maintaining integrity and upholding the political character of communists, who should be honest, upright, and free from corruption.

Symposium Attendance

The meeting was chaired by Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, who urged efforts to advance the cause of building a strong country and promoting the great national rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese modernization. Li Xi, also a member of the Standing Committee, attended the meeting.
