Diplomatic Escalation: EU Ambassador Expelled from Human Rights HQ by Guinea-Bissau Security Forces

In a brazen defiance of diplomatic norms, masked police officers in Guinea-Bissau stormed the headquarters of the League for Human Rights during a visit by EU Ambassador Federico Bianchi. The officers ordered the high-ranking diplomat and human rights officials to vacate the premises at gunpoint before sealing the office. While the Human Rights League condemned the act as "arbitrary and unacceptable," the EU mission has yet to issue an official public response.

صدام دبلوماسي في "بيساو".. الأمن يطرد السفير الأوروبي من مقر حقوقي والبعثة تلوذ بالصمت

This confrontation occurs under the shadow of the military junta led by General Horta Ntam, who seized power following the November coup. The incident marks the fourth raid on the League’s offices in two months, signaling a sharp crackdown on civil liberties. Analysts suggest this direct affront to an EU representative could trigger sanctions or a suspension of aid as international pressure for a return to civilian rule intensifies.
