Egyptian Ministry of Health: 20 passengers injured in Minya train collision

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced, on Sunday morning, raising the medical alert level in hospitals to monitor the health status at the Minya train collision site.

The ministry confirmed that 23 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, and according to the initial count, the number of injured in the collision reached 20 passengers.
Civil protection units are currently trying to rescue Minya train passengers after two cars fell after the trains collided in the village of Maqousa near Minya.

23 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, and according to the initial count, the number of injured passengers reached 20.
Civil protection units are currently trying to rescue Minya train passengers after two trains collided and two cars collapsed in the village of Maqousa near Minya.
The Railway Authority revealed in a press release that the rear carriage and the locomotive of sleeper train No. 1087 coming from Aswan to Cairo collided between Abu Qurqas and Minya, causing the electric carriage and the other carriage to fall from the train. Emergency equipment and cranes were immediately dispatched and the train was separated from the two carriages and continued its journey towards Cairo.
The Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, assigned the Deputy Minister of Transport for Railways and Electric Traction, and the Chairman of the Railway Authority, to head to the scene of the accident and form a committee of railway experts to determine the technical causes that led to the accident.
