Heritage and Traditional Brands Draw Attention

Middle Eastern countries are participating strongly in the 8th edition of the CIIE (November 5-10):

  • UAE as Guest of Honor: The UAE pavilion featured traditional architecture and showcased the nation's development journey, from the "Museum of the Future" to old city landmarks. Traditional Ayyala dance performances were also presented.

    • Camel Products: Camelicious (the UAE's largest camel milk brand) participated for the third consecutive year, offering new products like sugar-free, high-calcium camel milk powder. The brand has established official stores on major Chinese e-commerce platforms (Tmall, JD.com).

  • Syria and Iran: Traditional Aleppo soap and Damascus rose oil continue to draw high demand, with Syrian exhibitors coordinating to develop new packaging and products, like the "Dakka Qadima" brand, tailored for the Chinese market. Iranian rose beverages and precious saffron were also popular.

  • Bahrain: The pavilion introduced visitors to the art of Arabic calligraphy through an interactive experience.

Modern Technology Drives Economic Diversification

The participation was not limited to traditional goods but also highlighted the region's efforts to enhance economic diversification and technological advancement:

  • AI from the UAE: The Emirati AI-based technology startup Sandstone participated, showcasing ten tech exhibits integrating art and technology, aligned with key cooperation areas with China (aerospace, smart manufacturing, healthcare).

  • Sandstone's Vision: A design engineer from Sandstone described the participation as a translation of moving from "commercial exchange" to "technical coordination" and "joint innovation construction" between the UAE and China.

  • Energy Sector: The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) organized supplier seminars and bilateral talks, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening partnerships with Chinese partners to meet the growing global energy demand.
