Telegram founder, Pavel Durov, announced on Sunday the launch of "Cocoon," a decentralized and confidential computing network based on the TON (The Open Network) blockchain. Cocoon is dedicated to executing Artificial Intelligence tasks while ensuring complete protection of user privacy and data secrecy.

1. Key Features of "Cocoon"
The network is also known as the "Confidential Compute Open Network," and it operates on the TON blockchain.
Feature | Detail |
Decentralization and Confidentiality | A decentralized computing network that ensures data secrecy, positioning it as an alternative to centralized AI providers who fail to guarantee similar privacy levels. |
Rewards (TON) | Allows anyone with a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to earn TON digital tokens in exchange for running AI models for applications requiring high privacy. |
Secure Execution Mechanism | Connects computing power providers with application developers, ensuring secure and reliable model execution via Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), such as Intel TDX technology. |
Target Audience | Processes AI requests from Telegram users with complete confidentiality. |
2. Telegram: The First Major Customer and Demand Driver
Direct Integration: The Telegram application is the network's first major customer, having already begun integrating Cocoon's capabilities to provide private AI services within the app.
Telegram's Role: Durov announced that Telegram will extensively promote the network and will serve as the primary demand driver.
TON Ecosystem: Power providers and application developers are attracted via the TON ecosystem (the backbone of Telegram's internal economy) to handle payments for creators and advertisements.
