Grand Celebration in Cairo for the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

In a joyful festive atmosphere confirming the strength, harmony, and solid cooperation reached between the two countries, the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association hosted a reception on Monday/Tuesday evening to mark the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.

Attendees and Significance of Relations

• Wide Attendance: The ceremony, held at a major hotel overlooking the Nile in Cairo, saw wide participation, including the Chinese Ambassador Liao Liqiang, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Ambassador Abu Bakr Hefny (Deputy Egyptian Foreign Minister), and a large number of officials, parliamentarians, and academics.

• Pioneering Friendship Association: The Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association was founded in 1958, just two years after diplomatic relations were established, making it the first Arab and African friendship association with China.

• Role Model: Ambassador Liao Liqiang affirmed that relations between China and Egypt have developed soundly and steadily since the establishment of diplomatic ties, becoming a role model for South-South cooperation, and are pushing bilateral relations towards the goal of building a Chinese-Egyptian Community with a Shared Future.

• Leadership and Vision: Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber emphasized that the relationship has become a model for cooperation based on mutual respect, supported by the shared vision of Presidents Xi Jinping and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which laid the foundation for a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2014.

Chinese Development and Future Cooperation

• Chinese Development Plan: Ambassador Liao mentioned that the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China Central Committee drew a comprehensive plan for achieving Chinese-style modernization, including the "15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development."

• Anchor of Global Stability: Liao stressed that China remains an anchor of stability for global growth in the face of strong headwinds, and is ready to share development opportunities and promote high-level openness, injecting more certainty and positive energy into the world.

• Cooperation in Urban Development: The Cairo Governor expressed his aspiration to enhance local cooperation to benefit from China's pioneering experience in construction, technology, and innovation, which aligns with "Egypt's Vision 2030."

• Support for Chinese Initiatives: Ambassador Ali Hefny (Vice President of the Friendship Association) affirmed that Egypt actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative and supports China's efforts in international reform and the four initiatives launched for global development and peace.

• Humanitarian Closeness: Major General Mohamed Hussein (Egyptian State Information Service) noted that the wide Egyptian participation confirms the human and psychological and cultural closeness between the two peoples, and that the enormous leap in official relations has positively reflected on deep-rooted popular ties.
