Japanese researchers have shattered world records, achieving an unprecedented internet speed that borders on science fiction. This ultra-fast speed reaches over 125,000 Gigabits per second (Gbps), making it possible to download an entire film library, transfer massive amounts of data, or stream ultra-high-definition videos in just a few minutes.

This record speed was not only reached but also maintained over a long distance of nearly 1,800 kilometers—roughly the distance between New York and Florida. According to the "Leravi" website, this feat is about 4 million times faster than the average internet speed in the United States, heralding a "new era of super-fast communications."
The Breakthrough: Innovative Fiber Optic Cables
The Japanese team successfully doubled the previous record of approximately 50,000 Gbps in just a few months, thanks to the development of a revolutionary new type of fiber optic cable. The secret lies in a cable featuring 19 integrated optical cores within a single thread no wider than a human hair, about 0.005 inches in diameter.
These cores interact uniformly with light, significantly reducing data loss during long-distance transmission, boosting signal strength, and ensuring uninterrupted information flow.
