Meta unveils AI tool for video production

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has launched a new AI model called MovieGen that can create videos with audio to make them look realistic according to the user’s requirements.

Meta said the model could compete with tools from leading media production startups such as OpenAI and Eleven Labs.

Samples from MovieGen’s production, which Meta revealed, included videos of animals swimming and floating, as well as videos that were shot using photos of real people, such as drawing them on canvas.

Meta said in a blog post that moviegoers can also create background sounds and sound effects that are synchronized with the content of the captured clip, with the tool also being able to make adjustments to the clip.

In one clip from MovieGen, Meta asks the tool to place a decorative ball in the hand of a man running alone in the desert, and in another, it changes the parking lot where the man was skiing on dry land to another parking lot covered in puddles.

According to Meta, the video produced by MovieGen is 16 seconds long and the audio clip is 45 seconds long.
