President Putin appoints special representative for cooperation with BRICS countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin as Special Representative for Financial and Economic Cooperation with BRICS countries.

According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency, the decision was published on the official website of the Russian law and reads: "The duties of the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on issues of financial and economic cooperation with BRICS countries, and interaction with the New Development Bank are assigned to Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Maxim Stanislavovich Oreshkin."
The decree enters into force on Saturday.
Russia is chairing the BRICS group this year under the motto "Strengthening multilateralism for fair global development and security."
Since assuming the presidency, Russia has organized more than 200 political, economic and social events, the main one being the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan on October 22-24 with the attendance of a large number of heads of state.
BRICS is a multinational association founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, China and India. South Africa joined BRICS in 2011, and the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia and Iran have joined since early 2024.
