In a strategic meeting in Beijing, President Xi Jinping welcomed Finnish Prime Minister Petri Orpo, urging Finnish firms to capitalize on the "vast ocean of the Chinese market" to boost their global competitiveness. Xi emphasized that China and Europe are partners rather than rivals, calling on Finland to play a constructive role in stabilizing China-EU relations and resolving trade frictions. The discussions highlighted cooperation in clean energy, circular economy, and winter sports—a domain where Finland is a recognized powerhouse.

Prime Minister Orpo reaffirmed Finland’s adherence to the "One China" policy and expressed readiness to deepen practical cooperation in the digital economy and investment. He underscored Finland’s support for free trade and strategic autonomy for Europe, stating his country’s willingness to help mediate trade disputes between Brussels and Beijing to ensure a healthy and stable economic partnership.
