Shenzhen has retained its title as the top foreign trade hub among Chinese mainland cities, reaching a trade volume of 4.12 trillion yuan (approx. $584.6 billion) from January to November. Data from Shenzhen Customs reveals that exports hit 2.5 trillion yuan, while imports surged by 7.7% to reach 1.62 trillion yuan, signaling robust domestic and international demand.

The city’s trade success is rooted in its high-tech prowess, with electromechanical products accounting for 81.5% of total imports. Notably, private enterprises have become the backbone of Shenzhen's economic engine, contributing nearly 70% of the total trade value. This growth highlights the city's strategic shift toward emerging industries and electronic information sectors.
