A horrific collision between two high-speed trains in southern Spain has left at least 39 dead and 123 injured, marking the nation’s deadliest rail accident in over ten years. An "Iryo" train derailed near Adamuz, slamming into a "Renfe" train traveling in the opposite direction. Transport Minister Óscar Puente described the impact as so violent it threw several carriages off the tracks, leaving experts "deeply puzzled" by the cause.

Survivors described the impact as "feeling like an earthquake," with passengers using emergency hammers to escape the twisted metal. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez declared a period of "deep pain," stating that the entire nation stands with the victims' families. Rail services between Madrid and southern cities remain suspended. International support has poured in, including condolences from French President Emmanuel Macron, as rescue teams continue the grim task of searching the wreckage.
