The Horn of Africa has reached a strategic breaking point following revelations of Israel's intent to establish military bases in the breakaway region of "Somaliland." This move has forged an unlikely alignment between Cairo and Beijing. Egypt views the Israeli presence as a direct threat to Suez Canal maritime security and a leverage point in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) dispute. Meanwhile, China identifies this expansion as a sabotage of its "Belt and Road Initiative" and a strategic attempt to link Taiwan’s "T-DOM" defense system with Israel’s "Iron Dome" to counter Chinese influence.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Arab League have vehemently condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as a violation of international law and Somalia’s territorial integrity. Intelligence reports suggest Beijing has initiated "satellite surveillance" over the region to monitor Israeli military movements while boosting direct aid to the legitimate government in Mogadishu. Analysts warn that this geopolitical maneuvering targets Egypt’s national security and global trade routes, potentially pushing regional powers toward unprecedented military contingencies.
