Trade Milestone: China's Yunnan Province Exports Live Freshwater Fish to UAE for the First Time in 12-Hour Air Transit

In a significant trade first, a batch of live freshwater fish was recently shipped from Yunnan Province in southwestern China to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This marks the first time Yunnan has exported live freshwater fish to the UAE.

Shipment Details and Logistics
Fish Varieties: The shipment included species cultivated in Mengzhe Town, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, such as Yellow Catfish, Snakehead, Grass Carp, and Silver Carp.
Ideal Environment: Mengzhe Town, located in the deep southwest of China, boasts a subtropical monsoon climate with abundant, clean water and high dissolved oxygen levels, providing an ideal environment for fish farming.
Rapid Transit: Utilizing air freight via Kunming (the provincial capital), the transit time for these live fish from the farm to Dubai is only about 12 hours.
Streamlined Process: Xue Jinguang, manager of Xishuangbanna Xuxiansheng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., praised the smooth customs clearance procedures, which facilitate the quick delivery. The company has also optimized packing methods to increase the survival rate of the fish during transport, leveraging the vast market potential in the Middle East.
Growth in Yunnan's Fish Exports
Record Data: Official data from Xishuangbanna customs authorities show tremendous growth in the sector.
Volume and Value: Since the beginning of the year, authorities have overseen the export of 333 tons of live fish, valued at 6.51 million yuan (about $0.91 million USD).
Increase Rate: This volume represents a 92-fold increase in quantity and a 108-fold increase in value compared to the total exports of the previous year.
