Xi Jinping published an article on strengthening China's financial power.

Beijing, January, 2026 (Xinhua) -- An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on following the path of financial development with Chinese characteristics and enhancing China's financial strength, is scheduled to be published tomorrow (Sunday).

Xi’s article, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in the third issue of this year of Qiushi, a leading magazine of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The article explains that financial development with Chinese characteristics in China not only follows the path of modern financial development, but also has distinctive features that suit China’s national conditions, which makes it different from the Western model of financial development.

The article indicates that a financially strong state should be based on a solid economic foundation, and possess world-leading power in the economic, scientific and technological fields, in addition to comprehensive national power.

The article adds that the state should also have a series of basic financial elements, including a strong currency, a strong central bank, well-established financial institutions, international financial centers, robust financial oversight, and a highly competent team of financial experts.

To enhance China's financial capabilities, the article emphasizes the need to accelerate the construction of a modern financial system with Chinese characteristics. It also urges efforts to establish and improve a scientific and prudent financial regulatory system, a financial market system with a reasonable structure, a system of financial institutions based on division of labor and cooperation, a comprehensive and effective financial supervision and oversight system, a diverse and professional system of financial products and services, and an independent, controllable, secure, and efficient financial infrastructure system.
