Xi Jinping asserted that "the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable," and that the noble cause of peace and development for humanity "will surely prevail." In his call for global peace, the Chinese President warned of the challenges facing humanity, stating: "Today, humanity is once again at a crossroads between peace or war, dialogue or confrontation." He urged world leaders to "eliminate the root cause of war and prevent the recurrence of historical tragedies," stressing that common security can only be achieved when countries "treat each other on an equal footing, live in harmony, and support each other."

The military parade was attended by high-level diplomatic figures, including more than 20 heads of state. Among the most prominent attendees were Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Xi Jinping shook hands with each guest individually on the red carpet before they all ascended to the historic viewing platform atop Tiananmen Gate, overlooking the famous Tiananmen Square. Putin and Kim walked alongside Xi, amid warm applause from the attendees. The three leaders paused to greet and shake hands with five World War II veterans, some of whom were over a hundred years old, in a gesture of appreciation for their sacrifices.

The military parade, held in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, was not merely a show of force. It was a clear message from China about its pursuit of strengthening its influence on the world stage, showcasing advanced missiles, modern fighter jets, and other forms of military power.
