A Royal Reunion: "Tea" Ends 20-Month Rift Between King Charles and Prince Harry

In a surprising move that could signal the end of a long-standing rift, Prince Harry met with his father, King Charles, for tea on Wednesday at Clarence House in London. This marks the first time the father and son have met in 20 months, and it comes after the King's recent announcement that he is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

Details of the Family Meeting

The last time Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his father met was in February 2024. Buckingham Palace confirmed the latest meeting took place on Wednesday. Following the brief reunion, Harry, 40, traveled directly to an Invictus Games event in London. When asked by a journalist about his father's health, Harry responded succinctly, "Yeah, he's doing great, thank you."

Harry arrived in Britain on Monday for a series of engagements. During his visit, he also toured a research center specializing in improving treatment for blast victims.

A Long-Standing Public Rift

Since he and his American wife, Meghan, moved to California in 2020, the couple has been openly critical of the royal family and its institution in TV interviews, documentaries, and Harry's memoir. This public rift has been a major source of the estrangement between Harry and the rest of the royal family, making his meeting with his father a pivotal step towards mending their relationship.
