Appeals Court Rejects Trump's Birthright Citizenship Order, Deems it Unconstitutional

A U.S. appeals court has ruled that President Donald Trump's executive order, which aimed to end the right to birthright citizenship, is unconstitutional. This judicial decision upholds a previous ruling that had halted the order's implementation.

This ruling marks a significant precedent as it is the first time an appeals court has assessed the legality of this specific Trump order. This comes after the U.S. Supreme Court in June limited the authority of lower courts to rule on such matters and other federal policies affecting the entire United States.

Trump's controversial order sought to prevent the federal government from issuing passports, citizenship certificates, or other official documents to children born in the United States whose mothers were residing illegally or temporarily, or whose fathers did not hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (Green Card). This latest ruling reaffirms the constitutional principle of birthright citizenship, as enshrined in the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
