Border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia persisted on Wednesday with no signs of de-escalation, leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced persons crowded in temporary shelters. The fighting, rooted in long-standing territorial disputes, erupted after a skirmish on Sunday, which violated a ceasefire previously brokered by US President Donald Trump last July.

Casualties and Displacement:
Total Casualties: Over 12 people have been killed in the latest fighting.
Thailand: 5 soldiers killed and dozens wounded.
Cambodia: 9 civilians killed (including an infant) and 46 injured.
Displaced Persons:
Thailand: Around 400,000 people evacuated across 4 border provinces.
Cambodia: Over 127,000 villagers evacuated.
Official Reactions and US Intervention:
Trump's Mediation Pledge: US President Donald Trump said he expects to speak by phone with the leaders of both countries on Thursday, expressing confidence that he can once again persuade them to stop fighting.
Trump asserted he has helped resolve 8 global conflicts since returning to the White House, claiming: "I think I can get them to stop fighting. Who else can do it?"
Refusal to Back Down: Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul vowed to continue fighting, while Cambodia's powerful Senate President Hun Sen promised a strong response.
