The UN Security Council approved the US draft resolution supporting US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza. The text authorizes the establishment of an international stabilization force to provide security in the Strip and the creation of a "Peace Council" headed by Trump himself.

Israeli and American Welcomes
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, welcomed the adoption of the resolution, stating that Trump's twenty-point plan "will lead to peace and prosperity" because it includes:
Disarmament: Complete disarmament and dismantling of military infrastructure.
Deradicalization: A path toward removing extremism in Gaza.
In turn, former US President Donald Trump welcomed the Security Council resolution, writing on his "Truth Social" platform, congratulating the world on the "amazing" vote that recognizes and "endorses the Council of Peace, which I will personally chair."
Hamas Rejects and Criticizes “Tutelage”
In contrast, the Hamas movement issued a statement rejecting the resolution, asserting that it "does not meet the level of the demands and rights of the Palestinians." Hamas's main points of rejection included:
Self-Determination: The resolution deprives Palestinians of their right to self-determination.
International Tutelage: It imposes a mechanism of international tutelage over the Strip.
Disarmament: The movement stressed that any discussion related to the issue of arms must remain a "domestic national matter," and argued that assigning the international force with the mission of disarming Gaza strips it of neutrality and turns it into a party to the conflict in favor of Israel.
Fatah Supports the Resolution as a "Political Opportunity"
Unlike Hamas, the spokesperson for the Fatah movement in Gaza, Munthir Al-Hayek, saw the Security Council resolution as an opportunity to "consolidate the rights of the Palestinian people," hailing it as an "important step toward opening a new political horizon." Al-Hayek noted that the resolution is based on fundamental pillars, including establishing a ceasefire, delivering humanitarian aid, reconstruction, the right to self-determination, the establishment of a Palestinian State, and strengthening the role of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).
Details of the Vote and the Path to Palestinian Statehood
Voting Results: 13 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the US draft resolution, while Russia and China abstained, without either using their veto power.
Palestinian State: Unlike previous drafts, this resolution referred to the possibility of a future Palestinian State. It stipulates that conditions may finally be ripe for a credible path to Palestinian self-determination and statehood once the PNA implements required reforms and reconstruction in Gaza begins.
"Peace Council": The mandate of the new transitional governing body, theoretically chaired by Trump, is set to last until the end of 2027.
