Egypt has launched a swift diplomatic offensive following Israel's recognition of "Somaliland." During a ministerial session of the African Union Peace and Security Council, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for an emergency meeting to address this development. Abdelatty condemned the Israeli move as a "flagrant violation" of international law and the AU Constitutive Act, emphasizing that Egypt stands firmly against any unilateral actions that jeopardize Somalia's territorial integrity and regional stability in the Horn of Africa.

Parallel to the Somali crisis, Abdelatty addressed the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), welcoming the recent peace agreement signed in Washington between the DRC and Rwanda. He reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to leverage its extensive experience in UN peacekeeping missions to support trust-building measures and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid. Egypt’s dual-track diplomacy aims to halt escalation in both the Horn of Africa and Central Africa to foster long-term continental stability.
