On Monday, February 16, 2026, Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli government's decision to resume land registration and settlement procedures in large parts of the occupied West Bank for the first time since 1967. Cairo warned that these unilateral measures aim to consolidate Israeli administrative control and alter the demographic and historical status of the Palestinian territories. Egypt emphasized that such policies effectively undermine the two-state solution and jeopardize the prospects of an independent Palestinian state. The statement called on the international community to take immediate action to halt these violations and protect the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
