Elon Musk Escalates Attack on EU, Comparing it to Nazism as X Deletes Commission's Ad Account

Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), intensified his attack on the European Union, comparing the bloc to Nazi Germany, just two days after the EU imposed a major fine on the platform. The escalation included a practical move as X deleted the advertising account used by the European Commission.

إيلون ماسك يصعّد هجومه ضد الاتحاد الأوروبي ويصفه بـ"النازية".. و"إكس" تحذف حساباً إعلانياً للمفوضية

Details of the Exchange:

  • Ad Account Deletion: Nikita Bier, X's Head of Product, announced the termination of the European Commission's ad account, accusing it of creating a post that "deceives users into thinking it's a video and artificially increases its reach." (The Commission's main account and posts remain visible).

  • Background of the Fine: On Friday, the EU announced a fine of €120 million on X for violating transparency rules, citing misleading verification badges, withholding data from researchers, and non-transparent ad documentation.

Musk's Direct Assault:

  • Nazi Comparison: Musk reposted a user's comment describing the EU as the "Fourth Reich," along with an image of the EU flag peeling away to reveal the Nazi German flag (with a swastika) underneath.

  • Call for Abolition: Musk continued his hostile rhetoric against the EU, calling it an "unelected, authoritarian bureaucracy that oppresses the people of Europe," and urged the "abolition of the European Union" to restore individual sovereignty to member states.

  • US Criticism: The fine also drew criticism from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who called it an "attack on all American technology platforms and the American people."
