The city of Babanusa in Sudan witnessed a decisive military development, as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced their complete control over the Army’s Division 22 Headquarters, which was the last stronghold of the Sudanese Army in the city, besieged for over a year.

In a statement on Monday, the RSF accused the Sudanese Army of violating the declared humanitarian truce from their side, and published a video showing their forces penetrating the Division Headquarters. Yousif Alian, Head of the Civil Administration in West Kordofan State, confirmed in a separate statement that the RSF seized control of the HQ after pursuing Army soldiers who had "attacked positions" belonging to the RSF.
According to the official spokesperson for the RSF, "Our forces in Babanusa were subjected to an attack by the Army and its allied groups, and our forces had no option but to exercise their legitimate right to self-defence and repel the attack."
The RSF reiterated its commitment to the humanitarian truce but claimed the Army "exploited that truce to continue its repeated attacks on a number of cities and villages, causing the death and injury of hundreds of civilians."
The RSF statement warned that the Army’s continued "mobilization for continued fighting endangers civilian lives and negatively impacts the flow of humanitarian aid." The RSF also called on the Quartet Countries and regional/international organizations to condemn the Army’s "repeated aggressions," citing the attack on the Kamou area in South Kordofan, which allegedly resulted in the killing of over 46 students and the injury of dozens.
