Several European leaders reaffirmed their support for Denmark on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his designs on annexing the autonomous territory of Greenland. In a joint statement released by the German Chancellery, the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain stated: "Denmark and Greenland alone have the right to decide on all matters concerning Denmark and Greenland," reminding Washington that Denmark is a fellow NATO member.

A Collective Security Crisis: The statement emphasized that "the Kingdom of Denmark, including Greenland, is part of NATO. The security of the Arctic region must be a shared responsibility among all alliance members, including the United States." The leaders stressed respect for the principles of the UN Charter, particularly sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The "End of NATO" Warning: Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned on Monday that any American takeover of Greenland would represent the end of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This diplomatic storm follows the lightning U.S. military operation in Caracas on Saturday to arrest President Nicolás Maduro, which left the world in shock and heightened fears in Copenhagen that Greenland—a strategic, mineral-rich territory—could face a similar fate under Trump’s "New World Order."
