"Extraordinary" Measures to Protect Netanyahu After Assassination of Houthi Leaders

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported on Sunday evening that the General Security Service (Shin Bet) has begun implementing "special and extraordinary measures" to protect senior Israeli government officials. This includes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz. The move comes amid a significant escalation in threats against these officials following the assassination of prominent Houthi leaders in Yemen.

According to the source, the Israeli army has taken these heightened security precautions in response to explicit Yemeni threats of retaliation. On Saturday, the Houthi group in Yemen announced that Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahawi and several other ministers were killed in Israeli airstrikes that targeted a government workshop in western Yemen last Thursday. Al-Rahawi is the highest-ranking political official to be killed in the ongoing confrontation between the Houthis and Israel, which is linked to the war in the Gaza Strip.

In response, the Houthi leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, vowed on Sunday to launch more missile and drone attacks.
