Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif officially announced on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, that a comprehensive ceasefire has been reached between the U.S., Iran, and their respective allies. The deal, which takes immediate effect, notably covers the conflict in Lebanon and other regional hotspots. President Donald Trump confirmed he will suspend "destructive force" for two weeks, following personal appeals from Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership.

The 10-Point Proposal:
Trump revealed that the U.S. has received a viable 10-point proposal from Tehran, stating that almost all previous points of contention have been resolved. High-level direct talks, possibly involving VP JD Vance, are set to commence in Islamabad this Friday to secure a long-term peace treaty and ensure the permanent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
