surprising rift emerged within the Republican party as Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, condemned the Pentagon for failing to provide adequate details regarding ground troop movements. During a classified briefing on the ongoing campaign, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury", Rogers and other senior "hawks" warned that military escalations must be carefully calculated.

The anxiety follows a New York Times report stating that the Pentagon is preparing to deploy 3,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division’s "Immediate Response Force." These elite units are trained to seize airfields and secure territory in hostile zones within 24 hours. While some Republicans, like Representative Ryan Mackenzie, hope the deployment is a leverage tactic to force Tehran to the table, the lack of a clear exit strategy has left many in Congress skeptical of a full-scale ground invasion.
