President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will host a multi-party meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos to discuss the U.S. acquisition of Greenland. Writing on "Truth Social," Trump asserted that Greenland is a "vital necessity for national and global security," declaring that there is "no going back" on a plan he believes is widely accepted behind the scenes.

Trump revealed he had a "very good" phone call with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte regarding the island’s strategic future. Addressing concerns over European opposition, Trump stated in Florida that he does not expect leaders to "fight it very hard," reiterating his stance that America’s supreme power is the only guarantee for global peace. "We have to have it. It has to happen," Trump concluded.
