US Draft Resolution for Disarmament

  • Draft Proposal: Axios reported that Washington presented a draft resolution to the United Nations which includes a plan to disarm Hamas if the movement does not voluntarily surrender its weapons.

  • Stabilization Force: The US proposal involves deploying a stabilization force, rather than peacekeeping troops, to Gaza for a period of two years.

  • Force Mandate: The proposal indicates that the stabilization force will be responsible for maintaining security on the Gaza-Egypt border, protecting humanitarian corridors in the Strip, and training the Palestinian police.

  • Timeline: Washington aims to deploy the first contingents of the forces to Gaza by next January.

Other Humanitarian and Field Developments

  • Call for Journalist Access: US President Donald Trump renewed his call for Israel to allow foreign journalists into Gaza following the ceasefire. US officials acknowledged that this issue is not a top priority for Washington.

  • Search Efforts: Scenes from the Strip showed excavation equipment and Hamas personnel preparing for search operations for the bodies of Israeli hostages in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

  • Prisoner Release: Five Palestinian prisoners, released from Israeli jails and handed over by the Red Cross, arrived at Al-Aqsa Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
