Harris confronts Trump with the weapon she used against Biden in the presidential election

Kamala Harris, the US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate, is trying to play the card of age and health against her rival, former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

According to one of her campaign advisers, the candidate Kamala Harris, 59 years old, will issue a health statement on Saturday, confirming that she has the “physical and mental toughness necessary to carry out the duties of the presidency.”

Sources said that Harris hopes through this report, which has not yet been fully released, to fuel the debate about the ability of her Republican rival Donald Trump, 78 years old, according to sources.

‘Age and health’ again

Questions about the age of President Joe Biden (81 years old) and his physical and mental health dominated his election campaign until he withdrew from the presidential race last July after a “disastrous” debate with the former Republican president.

Since then, the issue has rarely appeared in the media and has had no noticeable impact on the polls, which have been competitive despite the age gap between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

As such, the US Vice President is keen to re-raise the issue to her advantage, prompting her campaign team to pay particular attention to recent reports published by the New York Times.

One of these reports indicated that Trump, who was widely criticized by his opponents for his lack of transparency about his health during his presidency, has not published his latest medical report.

Another report by an American newspaper analyzed Trump's recent speeches and concluded that they were "lengthy", "boring" and "obsessed with the past".

According to Agence France-Presse, while it is undeniable that the very popular former president has attended many rallies and repeated his election speeches, there is no sign of the fatigue that often appears in Biden's gait, features and style of speaking.

What do the polls say?

According to polls, Trump’s age is not a big issue for voters.

According to a Gallup poll, 41% of voters think the Republican candidate is too old to be president, a percentage that has not changed much since before Kamala Harris entered the race.

According to Gallup, 37% of voters expressed the same opinion last June, while two-thirds of Americans think Joe Biden is too old to serve a second term in the White House.
