A Western diplomat revealed a shift in the strategy of the International Quartet (US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and UAE) regarding the Sudanese crisis. The group is moving towards forcefully imposing the humanitarian truce proposal, in coordination with the European Union and regional partners.

This direction follows the failure of mediation efforts and the widespread continuation of violations and humanitarian atrocities. The Quartet intends to re-propose the original Washington proposal without modification.
Responses from Sudanese Parties
Government's Response: The Sudanese government submitted a formal response to the Quartet's statement, detailing a phased truce framework (three months followed by nine months) to the working group led by US Advisor Masood Poulos.
Army's Rejection: Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, affirmed the military's firm rejection of any political settlement that equates the state with the RSF, emphasizing a defense of national sovereignty.
Regional Diplomatic Moves
Egypt, through its Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty, is leading extensive diplomatic efforts, engaging the EU, Qatar, Russia, and Turkey, to coordinate regional and international positions and push for a political solution that ensures a ceasefire and humanitarian aid access.
