The Chief Justice of Iran, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, confirmed on Monday that the judicial system will show "no leniency" toward those he labeled "rioters." However, he acknowledged the legitimate right to protest for economic rights as the country entered its eighth day of demonstrations.

Judicial Orders: According to the "Mizan" news agency, Ejei stated: "I have issued orders to the Attorney General and prosecutors nationwide to act firmly and according to the law against rioters and those providing equipment or facilities to them." He added that while the state listens to critics with valid concerns, it will not tolerate elements seeking to create chaos or disrupt national security.
Accusations Against Israel: In a related development, Iran accused Israel of trying to "undermine its national unity" following statements by Benjamin Netanyahu expressing solidarity with the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described these comments as "incitement to violence" and urged the public to remain vigilant against foreign attempts to sow division.
Field Situation: Human rights organizations reported new clashes between protesters and security forces, resulting in fatalities. The "HRANA" rights group noted overnight protests in Tehran, Shiraz, and western Iran, where slogans against the authorities were raised. These protests are considered the most significant since September 2022, posing a new challenge to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei amidst a deteriorating economy and the aftermath of a 12-day military confrontation with Israel in June that damaged Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure.
