The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, warned U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday that any attack on Iran would be met with retaliation against Israel and U.S. military bases in the region, labeling them "legitimate targets." Sources report that Israel is on high alert, anticipating potential U.S. intervention to support nationwide protests currently sweeping Iran.

Economic Collapse and Social Unrest: The protests began in late December 2025 following a sharp devaluation of the Iranian Rial. The unrest initially focused on exchange rate volatility and its impact on wholesale and retail prices, leading to the resignation of Central Bank Governor Mohammad Farzin, who was replaced by Abdolnaser Hemmati. In several cities, the protests turned into violent clashes with police, accompanied by anti-regime slogans. Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the late Shah, called for a general strike via the "X" platform, urging the public to take control of strategic facilities.
