Israel Receives Body of Soldier Hadar Goldin from Hamas

Israel announced on Sunday the receipt of the body of Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which in turn received it from the Hamas movement.

Handover Details and Remaining Bodies

• Official Confirmation: The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: "We received from the Red Cross a coffin containing the body of Hadar Goldin."

• Duration of Captivity: Goldin was killed in 2014, and his body was held captive for over 11 years.

• Identification Process: The Israeli Institute of Forensic Medicine will undertake the identification process.

• Context of the Agreement: This handover is carried out under the terms of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect in Gaza since October 10.

• Remaining Bodies: If the body is confirmed to be Goldin's or another hostage's, 4 bodies of Israeli hostages will remain in Gaza.

• Hostage Count: At the start of the ceasefire, Hamas was holding 48 hostages in Gaza (20 alive and 28 deceased), out of 251 people abducted during the October 7 attack.
