Details of the Warning and the Raids

  • Declared Goal: The Israeli army stated in a press release that it would "soon attack military infrastructure" belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon to deal with what it described as "prohibited attempts" to rebuild its activities in the area.

  • Targeted Areas: Al Jazeera's correspondent confirmed that the Israeli shelling targeted the towns of Shehour and Deir Kifa in southern Lebanon.

  • Prior Warning: The Israeli army issued an ultimatum to residents of specific buildings shown on two attached maps and adjacent structures in the villages of Deir Kifa and Shehour, demanding "immediate evacuation" before the strikes.

Background of Escalation and Agreement Violations

  • All-Out War: Israel launched aggression against Lebanon in October 2023, escalating it into an all-out war in September 2024 that killed over 4,000 people and wounded nearly 17,000.

  • Ceasefire Violations: Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, effective since November 2024, more than 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of casualties.

  • Territorial Occupation: Israel continues to challenge the agreement by maintaining its occupation of five Lebanese hills in the south, seized during the last war, in addition to other Lebanese areas occupied for decades.
