Israeli Spy Network Busted: Citizen Charged for Transferring Sensitive Information on Army and Air Force Bases to Iran

A serious indictment was filed on Sunday in the Haifa Central Court against Israeli citizen Shimon Azrazar (27) from Kiryat Yam, charging him with transferring photos and coordinates of highly sensitive locations inside Israel to Iranian intelligence entities.

According to Maariv, Azrazar did not only transfer information himself but also used his partner, who serves in the Air Force reserves, to extract additional data. He received financial compensation for his services through digital payment methods.

Investigation Details and Charges Filed

Azrazar and his partner were arrested during October 2025 on suspicion of committing security crimes related to direct contact with Iranian intelligence entities and executing security missions under their direction.

Investigations by the General Security Service (Shin Bet) and the Police revealed the details of the espionage activities:

  • Continuous Contact: Shimon Azrazar had been in contact with Iranian intelligence entities for over a year.

  • Missions Executed: Azrazar carried out several missions based on Iranian instructions, including transferring photos and locations of sensitive areas inside Israel.

  • Offer of Vital Information: Azrazar went as far as offering to provide his handlers with vital information from Israeli Army bases.

  • Exploiting Relationships: It is suspected that Azrazar exploited his relationship with his partner—who serves in the reserves at an Air Force base—and extracted various pieces of information about the Israeli Army, Air Force bases, and other sensitive details.

Strong Security Warning

A joint statement was issued by the Shin Bet and the Israeli Army, strictly warning citizens and residents of the State of Israel against communicating with any foreign entities from hostile countries or unknown parties, let alone executing missions for them in exchange for money or any other reason. The security agencies affirmed in the statement that they will continue to work "to uncover and thwart any terrorist or espionage activity inside Israel, and will work to bring those involved to justice with the utmost severity."
