North Korea showcased significant progress in its naval nuclear program on Thursday, releasing images of leader Kim Jong Un inspecting a nearly complete 8,700-ton nuclear-powered submarine. Kim described the vessel as a "historic milestone" for the country's strategic deterrence, emphasizing its role as a "strategic cruise missile submarine" designed to modernize the North's naval nuclear arsenal.

Accompanied by his daughter and top military officials, Kim condemned South Korea's efforts to acquire similar nuclear-powered technology with the backing of the Donald Trump administration, labeling it an "offensive act" that threatens North Korean sovereignty. He asserted that these joint U.S.-South Korean military developments further justify Pyongyang’s drive to accelerate its maritime nuclear capabilities to counter what he termed "enemy threats."
