Kordofan Fighting Expands: Pro-Sudanese Army Forces Announce Entry into Bara and Umm Siyala

Fierce battles continue between the Sudanese Army (SAF) and its allied forces on one side, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the other, with fighting concentrated in the strategic Kordofan region in central Sudan. Military sources reported today, Monday, that vanguards of the joint forces supporting the SAF have entered the cities of Bara and Umm Siyala in North Kordofan State.

Battles in North Kordofan and the Siege of Bara

Military sources clarified that the SAF continues to impose a persistent siege on the city of Bara, which the RSF had recently regained control of.

The sources also indicated that SAF troops and allied forces have entered new areas in North Kordofan, including the Umm Siyala region, confirming the continued advance towards Jabra al-Sheikh and Bara as part of expanding their scope of movement in the region.

In contrast, the RSF issued a statement claiming they achieved a victory over the Sudanese Army in Umm Siyala, North Kordofan State.

Intensified Fighting in West Kordofan

In West Kordofan State, battles remain fierce in Babnousa. This occurs amid military mobilization by the RSF in the areas of Ghebeish, Al Mujlad, and Al-Tiboon, after the SAF managed yesterday to repel an attack launched by the RSF from three military axes.

The Kordofan region, with its four states, is considered a vital strategic axis, linking the capital Khartoum and central Sudan with the Darfur region. This importance makes military control over its key cities, such as Al-Obeid and others, crucial for controlling military supply lines towards the capital and Darfur, which explains the recent escalation of fighting there between the SAF and the RSF.
