Moscow has stepped up its criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev accusing him of obstructing the peace process by delaying territorial settlements. Dmitriev labeled Zelenskyy’s recent Davos speech as a failure, claiming that Kyiv's refusal to make territorial concessions is the primary reason for the prolonged conflict.

While Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described the recent direct talks in Abu Dhabi between Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. as "constructive," he cautioned against expecting immediate breakthroughs. The core dispute remains the sovereignty over occupied lands in eastern Ukraine; while Russia demands recognition of its control, Zelenskyy maintains that any territorial concession is unconstitutional and would require a national referendum. This deadlock continues to test the viability of the American peace plan.
