Kremlin: Iran Has Not Requested Arms Supplies Amid U.S.-Israeli Strikes

The Kremlin clarified on Thursday, March 5, 2026, that Iran has not approached Moscow with any requests for military hardware or material assistance despite the ongoing conflict. Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia's "consistent position" regarding the Middle East remains unchanged, signaling that while Moscow continues its rhetorical condemnation of the airstrikes, it has not yet moved to provide direct military support to its strategic partner in Tehran.

الكرملين يحسم الجدل: لا طلبات إيرانية للأسلحة وموسكو تكتفي بـ "التنديد الدبلوماسي"

The lack of an official arms request comes despite the 20-year Strategic Partnership Treaty signed in early 2025, which laid the groundwork for enhanced defense and energy cooperation. While Russia is currently constructing new nuclear units at Iran’s Bushehr plant and has historically benefited from Iranian Shahed drones, the Kremlin appears to be treading carefully to avoid a direct military entanglement with the U.S.-Israeli alliance. Moscow has instead focused its efforts on the diplomatic front, accusing Washington of "provoking Iran" to destabilize the region and calling for an immediate ceasefire to prevent a "radiological catastrophe" at nuclear sites.
