US President Donald Trump officially announced the designation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a "Major Non-NATO Ally (MNNA)," during a dinner with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House.

Significance of the Designation and Defense Agreement


  • Enhanced Cooperation: Trump stressed that this designation is "extremely important" for Saudi Arabia, indicating that the US will elevate military cooperation and increase coordination with the Kingdom to higher levels.

  • Agreement Signing: The Crown Prince and President Trump signed a Strategic Defense Agreement between the two countries. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this is a pivotal step that strengthens the long-term defense partnership and reflects the shared commitment of both sides to supporting peace, security, and prosperity in the region.

  • Objectives: The agreement establishes a solid framework for an ongoing and sustainable defense partnership. It affirms that both Saudi Arabia and the US are security partners capable of working together to face regional and international challenges and threats, thereby deepening long-term defense coordination, enhancing deterrence capabilities, and raising the level of readiness, alongside developing and integrating defensive capabilities between the parties.


Trump's Comment on the Gaza File


Trump also touched upon the Gaza issue, stating that "there is much greater security in Gaza now than before." He also mentioned that "the remains of more Israeli hostages have been handed over, and two remain," clarifying that "the Peace Council in Gaza will include the presidents of many nations."
